Goal Round Up

Goal roundup time. Earlier this year I posted some of my goals on this site. I am going to update you on these goals. Here we go.

Now the goal to Australia with my sister is being postponed a few years. This is because she has moved to the west coast. So the plan is to visit her there and my plan to go to Bavaria, Germany within the next two years. So there is a plan to travel with her. I have met my goal to donate blood this year. So that is a positive. I have now read over forty books this year. I am still working on my Ludwig book and have participated in all three Nanowrimos.

I have recorded a few videos outside on my channel. I have recorded an amount for my channel and have finished this year's YouTube Pagan Challenge. As of writing this (December 22), I have reached over 160 Instagram followers and 79 subscribers on YouTube – 82 as of December 28. I hope that between writing and posting this it hits the goals that I originally had. But I am so happy and glad about what I have gained this year. And in the coming year, I plan on growing more and happy with any result.

When Samhain came, I spent it alone, the way I wanted to this year to prepare more for the coming year. I had celebrated Yule this year, by spending a few minutes outside and getting myself a few items from Michaels.

I have donated and used up over fifty items, which was one of my goals this year. As well I have a list of even more books to read in the coming year to exceed what I have done this year. Next years YouTube Pagan Challenge came out and I am planning on that.

Travel Bucket List

These are only five places I would love to go to in the coming years. I want to travel and would love the opportunity to go to theses places and more. For me, I would love to travel the world.

Bavaria, Germany
Because I want to tour the sites of King Ludwig II (castles and death site). I would like to visit other areas of this region of Germany. I would like to be there for Oktoberfest, as I have lived in a city that has had celebrated it for many years as well. Like where I live, I would also like to see the Christmas Markets that are put up in this area. The ones there last a month or more, where here it is only four days. Yes I may go north to the rest of Germany but the main focus for me is the southern part of Germany.

Ireland
I would like to see Kildare and sites of Goddess Brigid and those connected to her as a Saint – which many be that of that. For me Ireland would be the first place for me to see in the United Kingdom. It would be fun to almost go counter clockwise visiting that part of Europe. Ireland looks nice and fun to go to. I would like to visit other areas of Ireland as well.

Austria
It would just be interesting to see the natural world that the country has to offer. As well as the history it has to different composers and the country as a whole. It would be interesting to compare what Germany and Austria are like. Yes there are going to be obvious and other differences between them. But how they treat the people, nature and other aspects of life.

Australia and New Zealand
For me I would like to give both countries a go in one trip. But I know that is doubtful due to the fact both countries have a lot to offer. I may not cover all of Australia but seeing some of it would be a delight to see. The nature and sites to see in both countries would be great to see with my younger sister. Also the attraction of being near the coast and beaches would attract her anyway.

Favourite Songs

Here are a few of my favourite songs. I am going to share five with you.

Here I Am – Bryan Adams
This song introduced me to Bryan Adams. It is a song in the film “Spirit: Stallion of the Cimarron.” I would after that try and listen for it on the radio. Then I received the soundtrack as a gift and I was so happy.

Straight From the Heart – Bryan Adams
It is hard for me choose a favourite Bryan Adams song but this is a song that is up there. For some reason I like it. To me it is saying, say the things you want to say now or you may not get a chance later on. If you do are you willing to still say those things and still mean them. Or on the other hand find new meaning in that situation or relationship and say it if you get the chance to vocalize it and not keep it hidden.

Imbolc – Lisa Thiel
This one really connected me to Brigid. It might not be for others, and other songs might be for them. But it connects me to her and what that day could be about.

Mary Did You Know – Kalan Porter
It is his version of this song that I heard first. But after that I heard a few other versions, but only liked one or two more. Never thought I would really like a Christian/Christmas song but again I like his version. It is a nice soothing and meaningful song.

Ross Roy -  Jacob de Haan
I had my first solo in honour band in this song, one person who did not come to practice and class that it came to me. The song is up beat and so much fun. If you are one to play it, it may look scary or not possible but it is possible and so much fun.

My trip to Halifax

Recently I went to Metro Halifax, Nova Scotia. I took the train to there, where it took close to thirty seven hours. For short distances the train is fine, but for me – that long a train where it would get off on time but get delayed and trying to make up time made me nervous. I bit my finger nails more than I usually do. But the three and half days I was in Halifax and what I was able to see was really interesting. For those few days, it was just me doing my own thing and was really nice. The following is a good majority of what I did on my trip.

Thursday August 17, 2017

Day before my trip to Halifax, Nova Scotia. This will my third time out of my home province, I will be taking the train. It will take about thirty-six hours to get there. Yes, taking a plane would be cheaper and shorter in time but it would be nice to see my way to the East coast by land. I am all packed but a few things – like toothpaste and bobby pins. I do not know why I have chosen Halifax, but I do know why I choose my activities/ hotel room close together – walking distance. Yes I could just learn one or two routes of the bus line to get to different places. I do not have a license so I am unable to rent a car, and no access to a bike – though I have not rode one in years. But I filled my mornings and and afternoons with different activities and time alone in my hotel room and I am alright with that for this trip out to Halifax. If I go again, I can plan differently since I have seen a few things this time around.

Friday August 18, 2017

First day of trip, and the train I was supposed to get on was about ten minutes late. This would be a precursor to all but one train ride (the one home funny enough). It therefore was late getting into Toronto, and I had a few moments to get the one to Montréal train. The one to Montréal was twenty minutes late but did not matter that much because I had about an hour and half of wait time to kill. On the two trains to Toronto and Montréal the driver was able to make up some time, but at some points lost time. The central via rail station there is pretty large, with a few stores and food court – almost like a mini mall. At the terminal I was able to grab a few things to eat and charge up my iPod and cell. I had planned to read on both trains to Toronto and to Montreal, but only got a few pages to Toronto and none to Montréal. Even to this point I was adjusting what I was going to see and when on my trip. On all three trains there was stops along the way – it was not a direct link to either city, the one to Halifax from Montréal made sense to have a few stops because it was a long distance. On the ride to Halifax I noted to myself I should have gotten an upgrade to a sleeper car than economy. For that long of a ride, even with brakes to step outside the train, it still hurt and uncomfortable.

Saturday August 19, 2017

The over night would stop and start which was rather bothersome, and would become an hour late getting into the Halifax train station. I was not impressed with it, the delay they said was them waiting on a part of the track to let freight trains move past, and I over heard, if I heard correctly, as well that staffing and shortages also was a factor. The last part I can understand because of where I currently work I get that. So part of me is okay but part of me is not. When travelling through Quebec and New Brunswick – during the day when we could see the scenery, it was really beautiful. Nice waters, greenery and landscapes. But looking at all that moving green made me a little sick of it for a little while. As I was making notes of my notebook I could not seem to focus on writing, reading, listening to music or anything really. And I only had about seven more hours left on the ride to go. The train finally picked up some speed, and caught up some time but was still behind schedule. Stretching on a train for almost twenty four hours only helps so much. An hour after I was originally supposed to get there, I arrived. I went to my room at the Novel Stay to drop off my luggage and then went to Pete's fine foods to get some food. Time zone wise, if coming from Ontario/Quebec, Halifax is about an hour later.

Sunday August 20, 2017

It was my first full day there. I went really well. I went early to the Public Garden on Spring Garden Road. The Garden was a beautiful, large piece of garden. Nice setup, figures, plants, small buildings and statues with descriptions, there was nice paths. Overall, it was a nice place to walk around – I spent close to forty-five minutes to an hour just walking around, taking pictures and sitting on two or three of the many benches there. There was a place set up with chairs facing what would be a stage for performances, which I found to be really cool.  Next place I went to was the Halifax Citadel, I did not spend a whole long of a time there – being a Canadian Park and it being Canada 150, I got in free. So I did not waste any kind of money doing only a few minutes doing a walk through and listening to an interpreter for a few moments. It was something really interesting to see if you are a person interested in military history, Canadian history, coastal history. It is worth looking outward to the shore line when you are up there and spending time at the Citadel – no matter how long.

Afterwards I went to the Art Gallery of Nova Scotia, where I spent a long time going from different level to the next. There was a few different exhibits being shown and all are very interesting. The ones that were going on when I went were: Shifting Ground – a look a charting the changing currents in contemporary Aboriginal art across Canada – and  SakKijâjuk: art and craft from Nunatsiavut both were really neat to look at and to see what type of art form they use to express their history, emotions and what is going on. Buoys and Gulls – a selection of whimsical and sometimes humorous works tying to the regions heritage and ties to the sea was just that and really fun to see. In a flash, was the next exhibit and of interest who wants a small snippet of the First World War, it is not huge but nicely done. Vimy Ridge... artists document the First World War merged into the previous exhibit as well. The Maud Lewis Gallery and Maud Lewis & The Big Screen were next. You get to see numerous paintings done by the artist, which hare very lovely to see. As well you got to see imagery and two costumes from the film about her (Maudie). The final exhibits that were in places also merged, they where the Centuries of Silence: the Discovery of the Salzinnes Antiphonal and An Expression of Faith: Sacred Art of the Centuries Past. Now these exhibits are not just for those of the Christian Faith, but for those who like history of the East coast, music and all around art. It was so many items to look at and was really beautiful pieces of works. Now I may have missed a few mentions but there was so much to have a look at and was really fascinating just to go from room to room and floor to floor to have a look at. Now this Gallery, you start on the south side, go down to the lower level in order to cross to get to the north side/ opposite side of the gallery which was interesting.

Now I filled my Sunday even more by going to the Maritime Museum of the Atlantic (or as some call it: the Titanic museum). This museum is the place if you have any interest in maritime, naval/marine, boat history, wrecks like the titanic or the Halifax explosion. There is two levels to this museum and each is jammed pact with models and artifacts from different events, boats and times in history of the Atlantic near or surrounding Halifax or Nova Scotia. As a person that has not much of interest in this area it was really cool to see how they brought this aspect of history and life to the public. The models alone are worth having a look at and more active than other museums atmosphere.

After my time at the museums and parks, I made my way back to where I was staying, but made a stop at a local 'witchy' shop called Neighbourhood Witch. It is located in a converted home with two other shops, you have to go up a set of stairs to get to it. It is divided into two small rooms that is sandwiching the room where they offer tarot readings, which I am assuming is also small in size as well. The day as a whole was really nice, I did not take as much photos as I thought I was going to take but I had had a nice time. When at the hotel, I had a few hours to watch Netflix and shows on television, like storage wars and just for laughs.

Monday August 21, 2017

On my way to Pier 21 I went to Trident bookseller and cafe, I just looked at the books – I got two. It is a small place but very nice and a good atmosphere. Worth having a look if you are in the area. After, I went to the Pier 21 museum of immigration and shopped at the corridor 22 while I waited for the museum to open. These are connected to the Seafood market. The vendors in the corridor are only open when there are tours scheduled for the day, when I went there were multiple tours that were going to happen. The selection of the vendors were similar but still different enough to have a look at each one and see almost a lot of new things. After touring the museum for almost an hour, I went to Point Pleasant Park. There were a few main and smaller trails that you are able to walk on. Make sure to take a photo of the map to know where you are if you are going on it for the first time. In the park there are different small sites to see – like half built forts before the realization going inward was a better idea to set up fort. Also, while I was on a boat tour the next day, I was told that the park is not fully Canadian land. We just pay the British eight to ten cents to keep it in Canadian territory. The Park is really nice to have a walk and a place to be with your dog, after a certain point you are allowed to take off your leash and are area you are allowed to have them for a certain amount of time. So if you have a dog and like to walk, this park is really a place for you to go. There is a lot of the park touching water and if you are able to get along the coast, you are able to get a great view. At the park, you are easily able spend well over an hour like I did if you are just looking around. But if want a place to walk or run, you can get your exercise in very quickly and easily.

After walking back to my hotel room, I cleaned up a little and then went again. Close by this time because where I was staying it was a twenty five minute walk back from the park. When I went out again I went to a local bookstore called Bookmark. Oh my, it was nice. I didn't get any books but spent some money on notebooks and accessories. Very nice place to have a look at and the personnel are really great. Then I went to a restaurant/pub called Your Father's Moustache. It was a great place to have something to eat and drink. As well there is a patio if you are a type of person that likes to eat outside on a good day. The patio is on the roof though and not on ground level like other patios are, but since it is in an area where places are close together, going up is the option to go.

Tuesday August 22, 2017

My last day here was more low key then the previous days. I took a ferry to Dartmouth and looked at two parks that were close by to the terminal. I went to the Peace Park Pavilion, which is small but very interesting to have a look at and is overlooking the coast. Next I went to Sinnot Hill Park look out for another view of the cemetery and park below and that park of the coast. Leighton Dillman Park was the next park I looked at, and is just as nice as the Public Gardens. It is more of a park that people go through to get to downtown or to the ferry. It really is a nice park and goes more uphill than it is level. After I took a ferry back, I stayed along the coast and waited for a nature and whale watching tour I booked. Though I did go a few minutes away to have a look through Coles and be inside for a few moments and get something to eat. I went on the tour, two and half hours long and really cool see the coast by boat. We did not see any whales but did see some sea lions and more porpoises. There was a regalia going on when my tour was going passing through. After the tour ended I walked around a little and went back to my to my hotel room.

Wednesday August 23, 2017

My last day here and left at eleven and made my way to the VIA terminal. It was on time but we had to wait ten minutes before it got going again. It would become delayed between twenty and sixty minutes. Though when it came into Montréal with about fifteen minutes to spare, so I was able to get onto the train. This one was slightly behind and I was able to get to Toronto with about half an hour to spare waiting. The one going to Kitchener was the only one that came and arrived on time and was on schedule. Overall, minus the nervous over the train times I had a great time in Halifax, Nova Scotia. If I get the chance again I would be interested again to see other places and do a few more boat tours. It was a really nice place to stay and a place really getting into being green/ environment interest.

Ten Things I Cannot Live Without

Okay, here is a list of ten things I cannot live without. This list is of items right now and the foreseeable future. These items won't include some items I know I could never part with, so those won't come up.

First, is candles and matches. To me having a lit candle is totally magical and spiritual. I always seem to have candles, getting them and having a jar full of matches. Yes it is likely better to have a lighter but I like using matches.

Secondly, tarot cards. If I had to have one magical or divination tool this would be tied with candles. I love tarot. I do not go fully into some of the symbolism (kabbalah for one), but I love the image and meaning behind the cards. It can be used for any situation.

Thirdly, pens and paper. I find writing things down physically more quick and easy for me. Yes, for other it is electronically but at times the way I am thinking it is easier to mark up a piece of paper then a word/openoffice document open.

Fourth, cocoa butter. This has made my skin feel a lot better. I use the Now Solutions (under the Now Foods brand) one, from the jar.

Fifth, post it notes. If you have ever watched my videos, one knows I use some to a lot of post it. Even after university I think everything is important, not just some.

Sixth, books. Certain books I wont give up, but I like to read. I like paperbacks more than hardcovers, but certain books I don not mind. Like when a new shadowhunter book comes out or one on King Ludwig II.

Seventh, music. I love listening it it, I loved playing alto saxophone – planning on buying my very own. I have listened to new and old from my parents, some from school and personal interest. But like books, I love it.

Eighth, laptop. This is where I record or write, watch what I like. It connects me to people and things I like and a good way to find research.

Ninth, citrine crystals. Over the last year, year and a half I found a connection to this crystal. I have collect a number of chips, and some different sizes of this one.

Tenth, planner. I like to have a planner, over the past two plus years I have a wall calendar and two planners going. I don't write anything on the calendar. I cannot just write it in my phone or a random piece of paper. I have to put it in a planner, see what I am doing, when I posted and all.

Favourite YouTube Channels

In this post I am going to tell you a few of my favourite YouTube channels that I really like. These channels are my choice and may not be yours. But I suggest to possibly look into them because they can be of use from one time or another.

The first channel that I am mentioning is Kelly-Ann Maddox. Many of you have likely already watched at least one of her videos or already subscribed. So you guys know what I mean. She has many videos of tarot, but also videos that may help you in other ways. She has information about doing business, shadow work, self love and other topics. She is very informative and her energy is amazing. Some of her videos can get past thirty minutes but are worth it.

Next choice would be to look into DragonFeather369. There is a focus on wicca, witchcraft and dragons. She does go onto other topics as well and you can see the passion she has due to the fact she does it for her viewers. Some of the topics she does comes out of polls she does on her amnio app (The Hatchling Clan). Though she may be in her early twenties (right now of writing this post) but she has a lot to offer.

Cutewitch772 is another great YouTuber. She shows different aspects of her life/experiences and talks of different topics. She is part of the collaboration channel: the pagan perspective.

Samantha Valens is the YouTuber that did the final push to have me post my first video. But when I did so, she still had her ontherocks channel, and due to anothers actions – she does not have it. Yet she still came back and is amazing and really authentic.

This one is different then the ones above – doitonadime. Here she helps you with organization and finds from Dollar Tree. At time you will find she uploads recipes and other videos. Her videos, for the majority are not long, but not super short. She does have helpful hints, and you could modify to your situation. For anyone who likes dollar store and budget type videos her channel is one to look into.

Brands I Like

So this is a list of the brands that I like. It is not much but it is what I like, and may grow once I try out more brands.

One brand that I like is the Now Foods brand – and the sub brands like Now Solutions. Their cocoa butter and essential oils are really great. The Now Foods company has a lot to offer and a few different areas to offer something in food, supplements, pets and personal beauty. If you are looking for an eco/green choice, this is a brand to look into. But if you are living in Canada you may not find much selection and slight higher prices if you go into a store. More selection online through luckyvitamin.com, but if you could end up paying a lot for shipping. But don't let that discourage you because it is a good brand.

The Method brand has good all-purpose cleaner. This is just one of their products and can be found in both grocery stores and some health food stores. The products are under six dollars and some variety. It is something to have a look at.
Dr Bronner is also another brand like Method and Now that is green/eco friendly. It prides itself on it. I really love it. Their castile soap is so useful and smells amazing. This brand is more on the the personal use side – but the soap can be used for more.

Another is the Recollections Creative Year items. Like their planner, books and other items I can get organized. There is a variety of these planners/books, which can be helpful if you like a slightly larger version or have one to zipper up. I have the planner one where there is that clasp. Even with a small selection, it is a good selection. The binder portions are under thirty dollars and accessories are going to be under twenty dollars. Some of the set ups may not be for those who like to deck out there planner, but it great for if you just need a quick thing to bring along with you and can hold a number of pages.

Yarn wise I like the Bernat Handicrafter Cotton. The colours are really nice and the thickness is just right for me (it is a four thickness). For what I create (Gods Eyes) it is the right size, and while I learn how to crochet it is again the right size. For this brand I like the feeling and the tightness, yet some looseness to it. The colours are great, for me a variety of solid colours and ombres – even a few scented ones.

Three things are stationary items that I find useful. Papermate pens, I find are the better pens that I have used. It is smooth ink and writing. The pen is easy to hold and the ink just comes out easily. Sharpie highlighters, the thinner selections, and Bic highlighters are good ones to have if you are a person who like to have things highlighted. Post it notes, the ones small and thin enough to mark pages. These are just quick enough to post to a page for me to have a look at later.

US Games Inc and Llewellyn are good publications to get tarot cards from. There is a variety of cards from each of them. For example, the hobbit/Tolkien, Waite, crystals, historical, fairy and more. Also, Llewellyn is a great company to get books, calenders and other products from (cards, journals, etc).

My Dream Job

This post and blog are a part of what I want to do. I am in my mid twenties, went to university for history and I am starting to finally put together what I want to do. Going to university for history I thought I would land a job somewhere in that field – I am still looking, but it is getting harder as the months go on. Still hopeful I will get something, just have to look. I could always go back and do a little more schooling in that area, which could be helpful. But I am working on growing my YouTube channel tarotundercandlelite and working on this blog. There is that hope that I will make a small amount of cash of the two. I am trying to bring something new to people, or at least my opinion of it anyway. It would be cool to work for one or more of the companies books/decks I am reviewing. In the few years I would love to post even more on this blog and increase from one video a week to two. A video on Sunday, like I have been lately, and one video on Wednesday – more of the tarot deck showing video.

Also there is the hope I am doing all this work in Bavaria. I have had an interest in King Ludwig II of Bavaria for some time now and would be nice to be in that area. As well Bavaria seems to be a pretty nice place other than Ludwig. Or, it could with the first part, my own little place that is slightly out of town but ease of access to it. A plan I have to have my own little library in my own place. A place for all my books and decks. Up until now I have gathered, for me, quite a number books and able to keep them pretty contained on the shelves I do have.

Right now it is just trying to work towards that dream. Work on the goals I wrote down. Got to put down a few new goals and do them. With part of my dream you the reader and possible watcher are helping with what I want to succeed in my life. So thank you for reading and/or watching.
